The Copper Tag Collaborative are design duo Brandon Hambleton and Ariel Lise. Working together in all aspects of the design and creation of our unique furnishings and lights, we are a force to be reckoned with! Our style is mixing old with new to reinvent and re-purpose. Each item is branded with one of our signature copper tags, which are also one of kind in of themselves!

Cottage Reno Winter 2012/2013

The site has been quiet this winter, but we’ve been busy! Our winter project was an old cottage that has been made new again. Kitchen is still in the works, photos in the near future!

J and P Historical Salvage was founded in 1990. Its founders, John and Paul, buy and sell historical buildings in southern Ontario. They hope to share their interest in antique log homes by offering their services to those who appreciate turn of the century architecture and want to preserve a piece of history.

Beach wood sconce

This was a little project my brother and I did together, creating a decorative wall sconce that casts warm light and large shadows. Goes nicely with the firelight emitted from the living room fireplace.

Post + Beam Washroom Summer 2012

His and Hers – post and beam washroom for a local unique wedding venue. After renovating their beautiful country home, the customer had a barn full of salvaged materials to incorporate. Merging rustic timbers, century old doors and funky lighting with modern appliances, we upgraded your traditional outhouse experience – running water, flushable thrones and lighting to check your ‘do. It was a great project for some great customers – who are already booked for their 2013 season!

The Farmhouse 2011

Beneath decades of historical decor, this charming brick Century home had much to reveal when the original elements were exposed. Having been expanded three times over the years, we began with the earliest structure. Exposing the transition wall, we found a letter in the old furnace pipe hole which contained the names of the individuals involved in the build. Stripping the original build back to the bare brick leaving only the flooring, and second story floor joists/ floor, we raised the ceilings, insulated the walls, rearranged the floor plan, and installed new windows. All new wiring, plumbing, support beams, drywall with a modern touch that accents the old, it is a century home with a finish that suits the new owners. Pulling rolled up newspaper clippings once used as insulation between wall boards of the secondary addition, we dated the newer portion back to the 50′s, with movie titles like “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” and the local Tara happenings of the time. The most recent renovation was the back kitchen/ wood shed. Touched up in the mid 90′s, the owners exposed an open loft and created an open concept space overlooking the farm and back of Arran Lake. With the owner’s love for antiques, and our use of rustic materials, we paired the modern look with a railing made from materials found in the post and beam barn on site, using tempered glass instead of spindles to allow the upstairs bedroom a clear view. Did I mention that I had the pleasure of living in this home when I was a toddler? With the raised ceilings, the place feels to have grown with me. Finding my old dinky cars in the floor boards was fun too!
